Earth House School - Earth House School in Satmasjid Road, Dhanmondi

Earth House Alternative School is the first school in Bangladesh to have a curriculum that places sustainability, nature education, and scientific inquiry at the core. Earth House students sit for public exams under Edexcel through the British Council. At the Primary level, we based our unique approach to teaching on the International Primary Curriculum. Students at the end of Key Stage 2 (Year 6) sit for the Achievement Test. Year 9 students sit for the Lower Secondary Achievement Test. Till now our students have been very successful in the Macmillan exams and the IGCSE exams. Earth House is unique in that we have an urban farm on the outskirts of Dhaka where our students can get out in the outdoors - try their hand at camping, weaving, farming, and pottery. Students at the age of 14 - join the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. We have a mini farm comprising of ducks, chickens, and pigeons. Children get to come close to nature and take part in rooftop gardening as part of the nature lab activities. Every Thursday morning you will see our children taking a walk along the Dhanmondi Lake- their distinctive uniform draws a lot of curiosity from onlookers. The atmosphere in the school is unlike conventional ones. A close-knit bunch - we try to stay true to our name and have a homely atmosphere. The rigidity of school - at times gives way to spontaneous activity. For instance at the onset of Monsoon - children were guided to the roof to watch the dark clouds gather- followed by paper boat making - ending up with them having fun floating the boats in the puddles that formed on the playground. At Earth House - our motto is Learning is Fun; Learning is Natural.
