Sylhet Diabetic Hospital - Sylhet Diabetic and General Hospital in Sylhet Sadar, Sylhet

Sylhet Diabetic Hospital is a non-profit hospital founded by the Sylhet Diabetic Association under the Societies Registration Act and registered with the Department of Social Welfare. The Sylhet Diabetic Association is linked with the Bangladesh Diabetic Association, which is a member of the World Diabetic Association. Dr. Md. Ibrahim, a distinguished clinician, and former National Professor, founded the Sylhet Diabetic Association in 1985. The construction of the Sylhet Diabetic Hospital Phase-I began in 1993 and was completed in 1997, thanks to donations from the Ministry of Social Welfare. The hospital's outdoor and indoor portions opened in 2001.

You understand firsthand the necessity and need for quality and cheap medical care as an outspoken advocate for the rights of the impoverished and a firm proponent of universal health care. This is something I'm all too familiar with. For the past five decades, I have worked as a medical doctor and a teaching hospital dean in the impoverished country of Bangladesh, which is home to many of your most ardent supporters. However, unlike the United States, which can afford to spend 16.2% of its GDP on medical care and has 2.672 physicians and 3.1 hospital beds per 1,000 people, Bangladesh can only afford to spend 3.4% of its GDP on medical care and has only 0.295 physicians and 0.4 hospital beds per 1,000 people.
