Govt. Mujibur Rahman Womens College, Bogra in Bogra Sadar, Bogra

Nearly two thousand and a half years ago, Pundranagar (Mahastangarh) was the heart of the glorious Pundra Civilization. This prosperous ancient township has, in course of time, culminated in becoming the present day district town of Bogra. This town still bears ample testimony to its former glory. As an extension of its legacy, this town lying on the stretch of land beside the Karotoa prides itself on a number of educational institutions that are beaming the shine of enlightenment across the region. Govt. M.R. Women’s college is one of those brilliant ones. This college was set up on 31 July, 1963 on the edge of the Subilkhal. Having been a non-government college over a period of 15 years, it was eventually nationalized on 1Feb, 1978. The then eminent industrialist and patron of education late Mujibur Rahman Bh. was one of the key persons among its founders. The college took its name from him.

This reputed institution of the Northern Part of the country has long since been able to command the attention and admiration of the guardians and the social elites. The efficient college administration, in collaboration with competent teachers and staff, has been working hard with a view to providing students with quality education and whetting their creative facilities. The assurance of violence-free and safe environment is contributing to the attainment of expected results free from unwanted hindrance or waste of time. As a singular recognition of its brilliant achievement, this college was declared the best educational institution of the district in 1996.

The college offers humanities and science education at HSC level,  BA, BSS and BSC (pass) courses at graduation level and Honours in Bangla, English, History, Islamic History & Culture, Philosophy, Economics and Political Science, and Masters in Bangla, English,

History, Philosophy and Political Science.

As an essential component of education, the college provides a number of facilities which include an enormous central library with adequate collection of books, seminar library for Honours departmenents and modern science lab, computer lab and seminar room for respective departments. Alongside education, the college provides opportunities for sports and cultural activities aimed at healthy physical and mental growth of students. To induce and increase the participation of students in social welfare programs, the college harbours BNCC, RS and Rangers units.

The college affords transport facilities for students who commute from within the city and its neighborhood. For those who hail from a distance, the college has in its compound two ladies hostels with modern amenities. The college canteen and departmental store inside the campus and the post office and the bazar at close quarters cater to the needs of the students.

Under the patronage of the government and the college administration, this institution has kept up various reformation and welfare activities.
