Mugda Medical College & Hospital in Mugda, Dhaka

Mugda Medical College, located in Mugda, Dhaka, is one of the prominent government medical colleges in Bangladesh. It was inaugurated as a 500-bedded General Hospital in July 2013. In 2015, the Health Minister declared it as a medical college.

With the aim of ensuring healthcare services to the approximately 30-40 million inhabitants of the eastern region of Dhaka city and the populous adjacent districts of Dhaka, the establishment of this medical college and hospital was initiated in line with the sincere desire of the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Presently, this medical college and hospital are advancing with prestige throughout the country.

In 2016, the auspicious announcement of academic activities was made by admitting 50 first-year MBBS students, which has now increased to 75 admissions annually. The Honorable Prime Minister has directed to establish Mugda Medical College and Hospital as a 'Center of Excellence' and as a modern 'Medical Hub'.

From this institution, the underprivileged people of the country are receiving top-notch healthcare services at minimal government expenditure. Continuous improvement is being made in various services such as indoor, outdoor, emergency services, surgeries, specialized treatments, and internationally recognized examinations and assessments.

During the COVID era, this hospital has gained fame and trust as one of the leading service providers in the country. It also provides excellent treatment for dengue patients.

Mugda Medical College is the 30th and the 4th government medical college in the capital city. According to the preference of students, it ranks fourth among all colleges nationwide. It consistently achieves good results in various professional MBBS exams, moving forward towards progress day by day. For example, in May 2019, in the second professional examination under the University of Dhaka, it secured positions among the top 10 in the combined merit list, including 2nd place, and achieved a total of 7 positions. In the latest second professional exam held in May 2022, it secured 1st and 5th positions.

Various postgraduate degrees are offered, and the necessary and complete training is being conducted by Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons and recognized universities, which are being successfully managed.

There are student-run organizations for social welfare, cultural activities, and sports. Various events are organized on different national days.

Regular CPD, CME, Medical Education, Workshops, Seminars, and Training are conducted for professional skills and development.
