The Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology was renamed from the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2002. The Division was elevated to become the Ministry of Information & Communication Technology on April 12, 2011, to provide the ICT sector additional momentum. The adjustment shows that the government recognizes the value of ICT at the highest level of policy and that it is eager to stay up with the rapidly evolving modern world. After that, on February 10, 2014, the Ministries of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information and Communications Technology were combined to become the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology. From February 10, 2014, the Ministry of ICT operates as an ICT Division. The transformation has given the division's efforts in information and communication technology new vigor.
