Bangladesh Rice Research Institute in Barishal Sadar, Barisal

The BRRI Regional Station, Barisal is situated in Barisal city area compring of Sagordi and Char Badna farms. The total area of the station is 40.10 hectares. This is one of the oldest experimental station estiblishe in 1923 and handed over to BRRI as one of its regional station in 1970. The main purpose of this station is to develop rice varieties and the production technologies suitable for growing under tidal submergence (non-saline) condition. The soil pH of this station is 6.6 and contains 2.6% organic matter. The annual rainfall is about 1800 mm. The station is headed by a Chief Scientific Officer with 8 scientific and 26 non-scientific staff.
