Bakerganj Government College in Bakerganj, Barisal

Govt. Bakerganj College was established on July1, 1970 at the center of the upazilla and beside the Dhaka-Barisal-Patuakhali National Highway. We remember with profound respect Mr. Munir Uddin Ahmed, founder of the college. He first came forward to improving the condition and economical position of the backward people of the southern part by establishing a college. It is the most renowned and popular institution of the upazilla. It covers a very large area and the scenic beauty very charming. It is the only Govt. college in the upazilla, which promotes higher education in the backward inhabitants in the southern part of Barisal. It has been spreading the light of education since its establishment. In 1975, the college was transferred to the present location. Its attractive academic buildings, administrative building, mosque and many others charm the people. Its large playground is the only place which is used for all kinds of recreation. Apart from this, the rich and sophisticated atmosphere of this college is praiseworthy. Good administration and dynamic and creative teaching staffs have made this college extraordinary. This college was nationalized on July25, 1989. This declaration made its path glorious. At present it offers degree up to degree level. Now it has near about two thousand students. It is owned and led by the best quality teachers who work relentlessly to ensure a favourable environment. Under the guideline of good governance, it is managed and run well. The co-curricular activities have made its environment rich. This college has produced many scholars and enlightened.
