In June 1985, ABAHONI BANIJJA SANGSTHA began functioning as a shipping agent for numerous international shipping lines after beginning as a clearing and forwarding agent in 1973. After Bangladesh gained independence, the corporation became recognized as one of the country's most active organizations and took part in its post-liberation rebuilding.

U.N. Relief Operations Bangladesh, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh, and other humanitarian agencies like MCC, CARE, Food for the Hungry, etc. are all heavily involved in these programs. Working closely with Petro Bangla and BAPEX from the beginning, ABS has been a part of Bangladesh's adventure in the oil and gas sector. It created a trade section in 1995 to offer various items, machines, and equipment to regional businesses in Bangladesh that were involved in manufacturing.
