On December 31st, 1981, AB Bank Limited was established as Bangladesh's first private sector bank. Since its official launch on April 12, 1982, Arab Bangladesh Bank has strived to become the country's premier financial institution.

Over the past three decades, AB's service offerings have expanded significantly, both domestically and internationally. The bank's first location was in Karwan Bazar, and since then it has expanded to 105 locations across Bangladesh, as well as an international branch in Mumbai, India, and 270 automated teller machines (ATMs). Its primary banking operations are supported by a network of 5 affiliated entities, one of which is an Off-shore Banking Unit. To further expand its international activities, the bank set up a representative office in Yangon, Myanmar.
